Star A few notes on the low voltage wiring and the connection to high voltage wiring.

 

Low voltage wiring typically is stared back to the Server Room from the various rooms of the house.

 

You can use CAT-5/6 Ethernet wire which is functionally the best solution, but you may prefer to use a visually different wire in order to avoid confusion with Ethernet.

 

USB warts

Low cost (about $1 each) USB charging wall warts are a good way to convert a 115V output into a 5V logic signal.
